Thank you so much to our sponsors for helping us make the Fundraising Party on March 28th in Los Angeles a success!  We reached our goal: a 3-day shoot in Miami (we are planning for May).  We had 93 guests in attendance (the capacity of the theatre was 100!), and there was a great mix of Cubans (including several Bay of Pigs veterans) and Industry people ranging from documentarians to production designers.
The music by Duo de Dos was fabulous, and I was especially excited when they played my favorite Cuban classic "Son de La Loma."   There were some great raffle gifts, but the most coveted prize of the night was the Wine Basket from Kiwi Distributors.  Many guests have emailed me with questions about where they can buy the wine and tequila served by Kiwi Distributors at the party (I didn't try the tequila, but I wish I had!  I heard it was "extremely smooth" and "better than Patron").   Visit their website for more information on where to buy their delicious wines and spirits!  Click Here for Kiwi's Website.
Stay tuned for future fundraising events: Miami in the fall, plus an online crowd-funding campaign coming up in a couple months.   Check out some photos from the event below....And if you haven't already, Please "Like" us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter.

Thanks to the generous donations from our private donors, the crew from "A Secret Legacy" was able to film for 3 days in Miami this past weekend...And the shoot was a success!  Director Sandra Alvarez-Smith, DP (Director of Photography) Bryan Donnell and Producer Amanda Spain all traveled from California to Miami with 4 heavy bags of equipment in tow.  We met some incredible people with amazing stories to tell.  We were so lucky to have the talented Bryan Donnell as our DP, and not only is the footage compelling- it also looks great!  We are more excited than ever about this project, but we still need your support and donations to continue filming and help finish making this documentary!  Click the "Donate" button now to make your contribution and forward this website to everyone you know!  We want to give a very special thanks to the people who donated and helped us make this weekend happen:

A Secret Legacy is now a fiscally sponsored project of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP)!  IFP is a non-profit organization that believes in "A Secret Legacy" and will ensure that all donations are used for the production of this incredible project.  This legitimizes our project in the film-world, and allows us to fundraise through a non-profit organization (so funders know their money is going to the right place, and they get a tax deduction on their donations to the film.)  The next step is applying raising the money!  To DONATE NOW visit the IFP website: https://market.ifp.org/newyork/fiscal/Donation.cfm
